Architectural History and Theory

This module is organised as a series of lecture-based classes designed to help students understand Ancient to Western architecture from the dawn of time to the Enlightenment, with an emphasis on the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political, and economic factors that have influenced building design. This Module includes a series of class activities, two projects, and a final quiz.

Tutorial Exercise

Exercises are given to students as tiny activities to help them solidify their knowledge on each topic covered in the lecture. Sketching the key components of buildings in accordance with each lecture topic is one of the tasks' topics.

Project 1

Sketching Analysis

This project highlights students' abilities to do research analyses on various structures throughout historical periods using sketching techniques, literature reviews, and documentation, as well as producing sketching and diagram basis works.

Project 2

Comparative Analysis Report

To enable students to conduct a research comparative analysis process on Modern Malaysian architecture practises throughout history via literature review and document analysis, and to present an appropriate chronological account of Malaysian architecture based on the knowledge gained through the analysis procedure.
