This module introduces the Industrialised Building System (IBS) including the chapter on the modular construction (MC). Besides that, this module introduces the facade and enveloped system, long span structure, steel construction and highrise building in the following chapters.
Project 1
A3 sized report
This group project focuses mostly on the Industrialized Building System (IBS) subject. Students will be introduced to several IBS system types and calculation methods in the classroom prior to beginning this project. Firstly, each group must create a three-story apartment building utilizing primarily IBS components which assigned by tutor. As my group, we got to design the apartment by using precast concrete system. Then, specification of precast concrete element and IBS score need to be listed down in the assignment to showcase the understanding of the topic.

Group Project
Reflection
In Project 1, I had the opportunity to expose myself to the industrialized Building System (IBS), which I did not really know before studying this module. There was a great opportunity for us as well, as we were able to visit the CIBD in Kuala Lumpur. We were exposed to the real-life material in there as well as visiting the real-life-built building using the IBS system. The most interesting part was that we saw the first 3D-printed house in Malaysia.
Besides that, in this module, as we were to do the report based on the system we were assigned to, I did a lot of research on the precast concrete system, especially the joints and the connections of the elements. I was exposed to the precast concrete construction and it might be very useful in the future. Lastly, we were happily working together and able to produce a wonderful report that we were satisfied with. Overall, this project was an enriching experience that allowed me to gain valuable insights into the industrialized building system (IBS).
Project 2
Construction Solutions
The purpose of this assignment is to assist students in their technical research and design creation for the Studio Design Project (fourth semester). To make sure that the student's design has logical and practical construction systems, it deals with the analysis and establishment of the structural and envelope systems. Additionally, it teaches students to consider construction as an essential component of the design rather than only an afterthought. Amateur designers frequently create their rooms without considering the logistics of building, which forces them to rethink and redesign their plans as a result. This assignment was created with the goal of addressing this problem and raising students' technical proficiency.
In this assignment, we were to do research on precedent study on the roof, floor, structural system, facade that can be applied into our building in Design Studio. Next, we will to apply it in our design studio and come out with a report that consist of the precedent study, application, construction details, and the sectional perspective.
